I wanted to talk to you about beating a gambling addiction. There are many people that live their lives with this type of addiction and they’re literally destroying their lives. Most people refer to this as an addiction because they never really want to address the root cause of what is causing it. It’s nice to sum up problems with a word that seems to show some sort of uncontrollable unconscious action, but that really isn’t the case. Without addressing the real reasons you gamble, you’re never going to get past it. No amount of will power is going to save you. This is why I want to talk to you about beating a gambling addiction.
Every single thing you do has a root cause. There is some sort of psychological pay off that you’re going to get it and identifying that is the only way to solve the problem. You’re getting some sort of emotional pay off from doing this. You don’t go to a casino or go on a gambling website for no reason. You go for a reason and that’s what needs to be identified. You could do it because you like the rush or you like to win. You could do it to create to avoid another problem in your life.
Beating a gambling addiction requires you to deal with the root cause. You have to be able to give yourself a pay off in some other way. If you like the rush, you should replace it with a hobby that gives you a rush. If you like to win, than joining a sports team may give you what you want. A very common reason is that people are avoiding another problem in their life. If you have a failing marriage, you should probably try to fix it instead of ignoring it with gambling your money away.
