The turning of a card, the rolling of dice, the spin of a roulette wheel, the draw of lottery numbers. How can these have any spiritual significance? If each one of us is a spirit having a spiritual experience then each event in our lives that we choose to become involved in has some significance. For instance, watching a horse race is a passive act, but betting $2 on a horse to win changes everything.
When you bet on the horse to win, the roll of the dice, or a turning of a card, you become part of the event and it now has significance and will in some way affect the rest of your life and the people around you. In the case of a horse or dog race, you and your future become a part of the event. Every dollar that passes through your hands and through your life will have some impact upon it and every dollar has energy attached to it and some of it is your energy.
Did you earn the two dollars you bet on the horse? What part of your life did you trade for it? How did the money enter and leave your life and what did that make you think and feel? What did the money mean to you and what did you feel during the race or gambling event? It is all out there now on the track where living and breathing animals and men are competing with their energy and the energy of all the people who are in any way connected to the race.
The father of a child risks money on the race and the race will have an impact on the child in some way or another though it may seem small and inconsequential because we do not understand the subtle ways the unseen works in our lives. So the energy and part of the child’s future is also tied to that race and the events and people attached to it. What a tangled web we weave when we gamble or do anything in life. Just more proof that we are energetic beings in an energetic world.
Also consider that when we combine our energy in unison the waves of energy are on the same wavelength and create positive interference which increases the affect and power exponentially. The synergistic affect makes the power of the event and its outcome that much more significant.
We cannot separate gambling or any other activity or event from our lives and each one will be used to teach us and is part of a path, our personal journey. Also consider that when you bet on an event you are combining part of your future and the significance of your energy with other people’s energy and the significance of the money they bet. It gets more and more entwined and complicated.
Finally, winning or losing is an exchange of energy. You didn’t risk two pieces of paper, money is just an exchange premium, an abstract, what you really risked was combining your fortunes with the unseen and unknown, something we do every day in many ways, though they are often less overt than gambling. But when you gamble you risk your energy in exchange for energy and a thrill.
If you win then the money you receive came from another gambler, even a casino itself is a gambler, so you are exchanging energy in the form of risk and stress for energy in the form of whatever you can do with what you win. How will winning or losing change your life? If you consider that either one may transform your life for good or bad you begin to realize that neither one is better than the other except for the momentary thrill of receiving more energy than you expended.
But even Newtonian science tells us that for every reaction there is an opposite and equal reaction, so winning and losing, in the eyes of the universe, are one and the same, simply an exchange of energy, a way to move it around. Therefore, by taking your money I perform a service in your life that you will someday perform for me or someone else by taking their money and around and around it goes. Did the losing of my money teach me anything? What was the affect upon my life? That is what I received from you in return for my money(energy) when I lost my bet to you.
Energy cannot be lost or destroyed so I receive as much from you by losing as you receive from me by winning. Even compulsive gamblers receive a valuable gift from their illness, though I know many will argue the point. The gift they receive is the lesson and life path they have chosen through their own higher consciousness, that part of them that resides in a higher realm and creates the situations in their lives that will teach them the lessons that have been set upon their life path. Would Dostoevsky, the author of the classic, “The Gambler,” have been as great a writer or understood human nature as well as he did without his own struggle with compulsive gambling? The universe never loses its balance and this is just a part of it.
And so it is that I consider myself a spiritual gambler and those who gamble with me as fellow spiritual gamblers, in fact, I consider all gambling a spiritual act. But then again, I consider every act a part of the spirit world and myself and all others as the actors in the spirit world. Does it mean you should gamble more or less? No. It means that you should choose wisely your bets and realize that it is an exchange of energy and you must know the true risk and reward for each exchange in life. While it is a personal decision to gamble, bear in mind that more chances are taken in life outside the casino or race track than within it.
